Cat began writing, directing and designing for theatre and short films while studying Physics at Cambridge University. After completing her MSci and two years of being sensible and working as a teacher, she decided to throw it all in to do something she really loved and applied to the NFTS. Through the SFX/VFX MA at the NFTS she has learned skills in CGI, practical effects, prosthetics and miniatures, and been able to put them into practice on various films, from creating digital flaming meteors to helping build a seven foot tall bug-monster.

The production of Skyborn was one of the biggest challenges so far, involving coordinating a large team on the outdoor smoke shoots and building a 12th scale flying machine complete with working pedals and propeller. Cat is looking forward to finding work in the world of practical effects and miniatures after her graduation, and has recently finished work on the set of Dark Shadows.
